Promotion

You can promote a pawn into a knight, bishop, rook, or queen. It’s allowed to have more than one queen on the board at the same time.

In an endgame with a king and pawn against a defending king:

• The king in front of the pawn
• Control the promotion square with the king

Think carefully before choosing the promotion piece!
