Rook Endgames
- A rook on the seventh rank is very powerful—it can attack pawns, trap the king, and make it hard for the other player to defend.
- In the endgame, the rook can cut off the king’s path and help your pawns move forward.
- The rook should go behind the passed pawn, both when attacking and defending.
In General
- A rook has great range when there are few pieces left on the board.
- Two rooks are often stronger than a queen, especially when they are connected (working together).
- Master their strength to dominate the game.
- Bluntly: The player who activates their rooks first often wins the game!
There will be much more about rooks in Modules 2, 3, and 4.
